Anna Tyrrell
Mediator & Counselor
Anna Tyrrell is a licensed professional counselor and licensed social worker. She has over thirty years experience working in the field of domestic violence in various capacities: as a child and family therapist; as an advocate, educator, and children’s counselor at a battered women’s shelter; as a facilitator of treatment groups for battered women, children as witnesses, and men who batter; and as a local and national speaker.
Anna is a trained mediator specializing in family, divorce and custody issues. She was a mediator with the Lake County Court of Domestic Relations and with the Mediation Program of the Cuyahoga County Department of Justice Affairs. Anna developed a mediation program for juvenile domestic violence offenders, and is recognized by the Supreme Court of Ohio as an advanced trainer for mediators on family mediation and domestic violence issues in mediation.
She was a Parenting Coordinator with the Lake County Domestic Relations Court from 2009- 2013, the only position of its kind in Ohio. Subsequently, she was chosen by the Dispute Resolution Section of the Supreme Court of Ohio to develop the Parenting Coordination training used in Ohio and has presented that training on numerous occasions.
In 2002, she was recognized for her accomplishments by being named “Counselor of the Year” by the Ohio Counseling Association. Other awards include “Woman of Achievement” by the Women’s Center at Lakeland Community College, the “Community Rescuer Award” by Project Love, an organization promoting tolerance in youth, and the “Thanks Badge”, “Community Appreciation Award”, and a “Woman of Distinction” award with the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio.
